The Steeler Seaburn Memorial Wrestling Scholarship Fund

Selection Criteria

In order to be considered for an award of scholarship funding from The Steeler Seaburn Memorial Wrestling Scholarship Fund, nominees must submit to the Board of Directors supporting documentation to show, at a minimum, the following qualifications:

  1. Wrestling.  The nominee must be a senior in a high school (as outlined on page 2), must have competed at the varsity level, must have demonstrated leadership skills, and must be at a level of excellence to be considered for scholarship at the collegiate level. 
  2. Academics.  The nominee must have completed high school with a GPA at a level to prove eligibility for entering the collegiate level of education.
  3. Character. The nominee must demonstrate a commitment to school/community, through involvement in extracurricular activities and volunteer work.
  4. Disqualification.  An applicant will not be considered if he/she has ever been declared ineligible to participate at any time during the wrestling season, do to academic or disciplinary reasons as set forth by MSHSAA.

In order for a wrestler to be nominated, the application form should be completed by the wrestler, and the content must be verified by a wrestling  coach or Athletic Director.

All supporting documentation must accompany the application.
Nominees may be requested to provide additional information throughout the wrestling season.

Finalists for the scholarship will be announced by January 31st of each year, and letters will be sent to each nominee, through the high school administrative departments.

Finalists will be asked to attend the annual Board of Directors fundraising dinner, at a date and time announced by the Board of Directors annually. 

All finalists are subject to interview by the Board of Directors.

By submitting this application, all nominees agree that their sportsmanship and leadership qualities will be observed and critiqued throughout the wrestling season, up to and including state.
